It’s been almost four weeks since we have been here in Florida. We love the condo we are staying in. It’s on the 22nd floor right on the beach. We’ve been able to see dolphins, stingrays, plenty of wildlife and have watched some awesome storms. We miss everyone. Kevin needs some “guy” time and I need some “women” time. We don’t have the “relaxing” down yet. We feel we should always be doing something. From what I’ve heard, this will go away.
We hiked two more parks, St. Andrews State Beach and Pine Log State Forest last week. We are finished seeing alligators! I could watch the birds, herons, and ducks all day. They are just beautiful! Kevin has better far distance sight than me so he finds the birds in the trees. My camera lens isn’t very powerful so I don’t always get the shot. Plus there are so many pine cones in the trees that they look like birds!
St Andrews State Park
This park you can go to the beach or take a small trail through the nature. The birds love the people who fish. We watch one duck follow a boat just waiting for them to pull up a fish. It has a Jedi where you can fish. The rocks by the Jedi are actually marble covered with tar. The birds on the beach would let me get close to them and it seemed as though they were posing for me. We were surprised how docile they were.
Pine Log State Forest
This forest has three sections. We hiked what was called the Dutch and Faye Trail. On this trail we saw red-headed woodpeckers, blue birds, some ducks, cypress trees and it was a change from the open beach trails. Flowers growing from the trees, the paths were clear and we didn’t see anyone else while we were there.
We hope you enjoy our photos. It’s our way of showing you the beauty we see when we are in the wilderness. All kinds of wildlife here in Florida!
Happy Trails!
